⭐ Meet Charlie Hitchcox ⭐
Founder of StarCoachI’ve been working in hospitality in some shape or form since I was 13.By the time I was 14, I was juggling three jobs — a 5am paper round, sweeping up hair in a barbershop at 9am, and washing dishes in a pub kitchen after school. It wasn’t glamorous, but it taught me work ethic, resilience, and how much I enjoyed being around people.At 17, I went to college — not really knowing what I wanted to do. But I quickly realised the classroom wasn’t for me. I dropped out and decided to give hospitality a real go.I started as a Saturday boy at Brend Hotels, doing everything from weeding flower beds to polishing glassware. From there, I moved through various roles like waiting tables, events, reception, portering and eventually stepping into management.I worked my way up to Assistant Hotel Manager, and later took on full operational leadership of large hotel properties, most recently overseeing the turnaround of The Falmouth Hotel as Hotel Manager — a historic and complex site with a big legacy.But through it all, one thing stood out:Hospitality was still being overlooked as a serious career.It was often seen as a last resort — something people just ‘fell into’. I saw talented young people come and go without realising the potential this industry holds.This isn’t just a job. It’s a career. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a launchpad.
